Karkın & Yüksel are proud supporters of the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law which aims to proactively advance the Rule of Law worldwide. As well as donating to the Bingham Appeal, we aim to partner with this leading organisation over the next three years in co-hosting a series of events on pressing Rule of Law issues in national and international affairs.
A message from the Bingham Centre:
We would like to thank Karkın & Yüksel for providing much needed support to the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law (the Bingham Centre). This report outlines activities and achievements since August 2020, including how the Centre has utilised core funding to enhance its reach and impact. Law firm support, including Karkın & Yüksel’s generous contribution, has enabled the Centre to be strategic in how it addresses long term challenges facing the Rule of Law and develop larger, more ambitious projects, such as our Centre on Modern Slavery. At the same time, it has meant that we are positioned to respond quickly to global developments and inform public debate on topical Rule of Law issues. Over the past year, our work has focused on the following key areas:
- Expanding our activities aimed at raising Rule of Law awareness among the general public.
- Engaging with Parliaments and Governments to promote Rule of Law values and improve understanding of the Rule of Law implications of their work.
- Responding to emerging issues or challenges to the Rule of Law globally, most notably the Coronavirus pandemic and the withdrawal of the UK from the EU.
- Addressing the complex problems of modern slavery through the Modern Slavery and Human Rights Policy and Evidence Centre, which the Bingham Centre leads.
